Winning Actor of the Year (English) at the 2025 YEN Entertainment Awards is one of the biggest moments of my acting career so far. It is my first major acting award, and it marks an important step in a journey that has been built on years of hard work, Luck, and Self belief.
The award came after a year that saw me take on some of my most important screen roles. My performance in House of Klu connected with audiences across Ghana and beyond, while my work in other productions continued to build my place within the Ghanaian film and television industry.
I was honored with the Actor of the Year (English) title after being nominated alongside respected actors such as Adjetey Annan, Anthony Woode, Jeffery Nortey, and Aaron Adatsi. To receive this recognition among such talented performers is something I do not take for granted.
In 2014, I left my village and came to Accra with only a few cedis in my pocket and a dream that many people would have called impossible. I had no connections, no clear path, and no guarantee that things would work out. I took on any honest job I could find. I worked as a garden boy, laboured on construction sites, yooo even tried to become a driver's mate but was turned away LOL. All while sleeping in kiosk (Wooden Structure)
Those moments could have made me give up. Instead, they gave me a reason to keep going.
Receiving the YEN Entertainment Award for Actor of the Year is something I never i could never dream of maybe that is why i don't see myself as a dreamer at all. The recognition belongs to every person who believed in me, gave me an opportunity, encouraged me, or simply watched my work and supported my journey.
More than anything, I hope I become a living testimony to young people from my village, Dodo Amanfrom in the Kadjebi District. I want them to know that where you start in life does not decide where you will end.
I came from deep poverty and hard conditions. If I could move from there to standing on stages like this, then they can do it too. Nothing about my story makes me special. I just refused to stop when life was difficult.
I am living proof that impossible dreams can become real.
This recognition is not the finish line. It is another reminder that there is still much more to achieve. As an actor, I remain committed to telling honest stories, taking on challenging roles, and representing Ghanaian cinema with pride wherever my work takes me.
I am grateful to everyone who voted, supported my work, and believed in my journey. This award belongs to all of us.
